Description: The story of Noah is one of the most familiar stories in the Bible, but what if Noah’s story is less about being a perfect hero and more about our need for a Savior? Noah was called righteous and blameless, faithfully obeyed God, and was used to save his family from the flood. Yet his story ultimately reveals that even the best of us fall short. The story of Noah points beyond itself to Jesus, the only one who perfectly meets God’s standard of righteousness.

We all have moments when we feel God prompting us to trust Him, make a change, or take a step of faith. Noah challenges us to consider whether we are willing to follow God even when obedience feels uncomfortable or uncertain. But his story also reminds us that we cannot earn our way to God through good behavior or religious effort. As Romans 3:23–24 reminds us, we all fall short, but through faith in Jesus Christ we can receive righteousness as a gift of grace. The story of Noah ultimately points us to the hope of the gospel: we don’t have to be good enough on our own because Jesus is.
