Samson

Main Text: Judges 13-16

Description: Samson’s story is one of the most well-known stories in the Old Testament. He was a man with incredible strength and God-given potential, but he struggled to control his desires, emotions, and choices. Although God had a purpose for Samson’s life, his weak will repeatedly caused him to make decisions that pulled him away from that purpose.

Through Samson’s life, we see how temptation, pride, and relying on our own strength can lead us into places we never intended to go. Samson wanted what he wanted, believed he could handle the consequences, and underestimated the power of his enemy. His story reminds us that even people with great gifts and potential can be derailed when they stop following God’s direction.

But Samson’s story is also a story of grace. Even after his failures, God was not finished with him. In the same way, our mistakes and past choices do not have to define our future. Through Jesus, we can experience forgiveness, restoration, and a new direction. God’s purpose for our lives is greater than our failures.
