Lost Coin

Main Text: Luke 15:8-10

Description: Jesus came to seek and save those who are lost. In Luke 15, Jesus tells the story of a woman who loses one of her ten coins and searches carefully until she finds it. When the lost coin is found, she celebrates with her friends and neighbors. Jesus uses this simple story to show us the heart of God: every person matters, and there is joy in heaven when even one person turns back to God. Following Jesus means having that same focus on the one, the people around us who may be close to us but far from God.

The story of the paralyzed man in Mark 2 gives us another picture of what it looks like to care about the one. His friends refused to let obstacles stop them from getting him to Jesus, even going so far as to lower him through a roof. Jesus not only healed the man physically but addressed his deepest need by forgiving his sins. We were never meant to navigate life or faith alone. Being a follower of Jesus means becoming the kind of person who carries others toward Him, takes risks, invests in relationships, and refuses to give up on the people God has placed around us.
